Frankie is not a private investigator or detective, but she finds people. A Texas state inmate seeks out Frankie to help find her lost sister, Leilani.  Frankie is thrust into a small community on to a remote atoll surrounded by nothing but ocean and crabs.  Death, sabotage, and betrayal are all in the way of Frankie getting to the bottom of what happened Leilani.

This novel is the third in the Frankie Elkin series.  While the story can stand on its own, Gardner does weave aspects of previous novels into Frankie’s dialogue and character development.  I think, just for me, I would’ve liked to have read the previous books to better understand Frankie’s past experiences.  I think it would’ve help understand her choices and how they play into her decisions and personal struggles on the atoll.  Overall, I liked the story.  It was a quick read, and I enjoyed seeing the twists all come together at the end!
