I really enjoyed this book! It’s a dual timeline that tells the story of a family who was ripped apart. In 1939, the Foss children were taken from their riverboat parents while their parents were at the hospital. They were separated and adopted out to other families to wealthy clients who wanted to adopt children. Most had no idea about the corruption. I had never heard of the Tennessee Children’s Home Society before reading this, but hundreds of poor children were stolen from their parents for decades by this organization.
