The Crown, by Kiera Cass

Let me start by saying that I started and finished this book in the parking lot of my local book store in less than an hour and a half. While I've been a big fan of the series since I first read [b:The Selection|10507293|The Selection (The Selection, #1)|Kiera Cass|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1322103400s/10507293.jpg|15413183], I never felt this unfulfilled at the finish of a series. Overall it read as a mediocre fanfiction written by someone who wanted their underdog fave - who I did support while reading [b:The Heir|22918050|The Heir (The Selection, #4)|Kiera Cass|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1422993526s/22918050.jpg|42484814] - to end up with the main character. The entire plot seemed rushed, there was no true conflict, and there was little development in the relationships. I wish that the book had been at least twice as long to give more of an opportunity for the reader to connect with the characters again. There were a handful of cute moments, but I didn't get nearly as much satisfaction as I would have hoped at the end of a series.
