This book was a ride I was not prepared for!!
Despite not completely understanding the Anishinaabe terms or the history, this story does an amazing job of incorporating both for the reader. It also does a great job of tying modern and social problems faced by the Native youth with general life issues.
I did have to take some pauses for the more intense scenes but the main character's euqally intense emotions and drive to find a goal are what had my pushing through and rooting for her.
