The Wild Tour by Erin O'Kane, K.A. Knight

4.0

The plot thickens

Someone wants Gabby out of the picture. Whoever they are, they're determined to have the Wild Boys all to themselves. Can't they see that the Wild Boys only have eyes for Gabby? Obsession and jealousy leads to murder plots. Freaking weirdo stalker.

Gabby is having the time of her life despite the threatening messages and attempts to hurt her. Her men are amazing. Loving and funny. Gentle and sexy. Hard working (in more ways than one. Wink, wink...cringe, did I really just type that?). She is adored beyond measure.

The board just doesn't like women or something. Despite Gabby's success with the show, they send in a spy to police her relationship with the guys (god forbid a woman can be in charge and have an active sex life) though if I were to flip it around to a dude being in charge and having a relationship with his female dancers, would I feel ok with their relationship? Makes me feel kind of slimy if I'm honest. Am I a hypocrite? I guess it's all about consent and respect. Where am I going with this rant? Who knows.

There are other issues in the book that crop up for me, especially regarding consent, especially in the sex work industry. Just because you take your clothes off for money doesn't mean people can touch you without your consent. Female, male, or anyone on the gender spectrum. We all get to choose who can touch us and when.

There are so many other topics to think about and discuss in this book: parent relationships, dealing with grief, hiding your emotions, plural relationships and their acceptance in society, feminism...romance books are filled with great stuff. Besides love and sex, there are endless life lessons that these authors preach. I'm so lucky to be able to read all these books.
