I love the book. I enjoyed it a lot.
It is marketed as "middle grade", which somehow made me less eager to read it, because I thought it would be very simple or something? Yet this turned out to be not the case.
The book is so full of emotion.
I could not have imagined it, but I cried quite a lot while reading this book. And I smiled a lot as well. Sometimes smiles and tears went together.
There is a lot of action, and some tension, without there being aggressive fights or anything.
I think the themes of the book felt very close to me. Certain struggles resonated, and the themes of family and friendship that feature prominently often touch me. Stephanie Burgis did that really well.
Once I finished the book, I immediately ordered book 2, and I put the third one on my (already way too big) list of books to buy.
The Dragon with a Chocolate Heart deserves 5 out of 5 stars, without doubt.
I definitely recommend it, if you have not yet read it! (And if the prominent theme of chocolate is not a problem for you, of course.)
