I really enjoy Tessa Dare's sense of humor. I snort-laughed my way through much of this book, which is sweet, warm, and sexy, although not as 🔥🔥 as the other books I have read in this series (nothing much happens until almost halfway through the book). I didn't like Alex quite as much as Penny ("The Wallflower Wager") or Emma ("The Duchess Deal"), but she is still a really fun heroine - smart, honest, and with a heart of gold. (Ok, all of the Tessa Dare heroines I have read are like that, actually...). The most unique part of this book is the inclusion of the two children and their antics, which is what precipitated much of the humor (daily doll funerals, amirite?). I read "The Governess Game" in a day, and it was frivolous and enjoyable and exactly the kind of happy, mindless entertainment I needed after a stressful week at work.
