The Summer Sisters by Sara Richardson
5.0
Thoughts
Home for the Holidays was one of my favorite holiday reads last year, so I was excited to receive a #gifted copy of this one with the same cast of characters.
The Buchanan sisters ~Rose, Dahlia and Magnolia~are back! This time around Rose and Dahlia have moved to Juniper Springs, Colorado to run the Juniper Inn they inherited from their Aunt Sassy in the first book. Preparations for a big grand opening are underway to surprise Sassy, and Rose is trying to make everything perfect but issues with the cabins keep popping up. Will she get it done in time? To add to the stress Lillian, their mother, is in town to visit her daughters. Sassy and her sister have not spoken for years, but the sisters are hoping this is the trip where they finally put their differences aside.
Romance was brewing between Dr. Ike and Dahlia over last Christmas, but it has since fizzled. Now there is a new doctor in town, Dr. Jolly, and she has her sights set on Ike. Will Dahlia try to rekindle her once burning flame with the doctor or will she throw in the towel?
When Rose first met Colt, the hardware store owner , sparks did not fly but as they got to know one another there was something there. Now Colt is selling his store and planning to move away to explore what else is beyond their small town. Will he leave before Rose confesses her true feelings?
Sassy, now Mayor Sassy, is buckling under the stress of trying to please everyone and still be the best she can possibly be. Nobody knows about her recent health issues, and Sassy is too scared to talk to a doctor because she thinks she knows what's wrong, and the results will be fatal.
Just like the first book, I loved this one! A nice mix of family drama, romance and hard choices. Small town atmospheres have always been a favorite of mine because I grew up in one. The author does such a good job of making the town seem very cozy and picturesque. Although this book takes place in the summer, Juniper Inn is all about Christmas from the names of the cabins to the decor inside and I love it! I could talk about this book all day, but I'll stop and say if you enjoyed the first book do not miss out on this one!
This one comes out on July 6 so if you loved Home for the Holidays you won't want to miss this one! Thank you Estelle and Forever Pub for my #copy.
Book Rating: 5/5
Wine Pairing: Espiral Vinho Verde ~ very chilled
