this is Sanderson taking a crack at a more classic type of science fiction story. unfortunately, what he covers here (precognition/retrocognition as it pertains to solving crimes, ethics of the holodeck) is pretty well-trodden stuff, and i didn't find there was much in here that a science fiction person won't have seen before
