She's Like The Wind by Carrie Elks
4.0
I LOVED IT. It was 100 times better than the first one (sorry)
The beach, the coffee shop, the found family, the heartbreak, the close proximity… Everything was perfectly explain and nothing was weird (in the timing of the events etc)
Be careful, spoilers underneath !
Ally is awesome ; she’s fierce, hardworking but so lonely. Even in the first book, it was clear all she wanted was a real family and someone who loves her. Her story is also so sad, with her parents’s divorce, her mom dying and then her dad leaving…
Also I really loved her relationship with Riley, even though I wish we could have more interaction before Ally and Nate started seeing each other.
Nate is passionate, loving and hardworking. He would do anything for his family, especially his daughter. I loved how he tried to put Riley before the woman he loved, just because he didn’t want to make her feel bad about a possible mother in law.
The two main characters have really great chemistry and so many similarities ! Although I have too (not too bad but a little bit bad) things to say : the epilogue ? ok it was great BUT I really wanted to know more about their futures ! Would they have more kids (I hope so), how would Riley cope with her siblings and her new mother in law ? I hope we will have crumbs of their story in the next books of the series ! And the second thing, I feel like the spice wasn’t there. They were attracted to each other, that was for sure but it was pretty blend. It was still better than the first book but still, a bit more spice would have been appreciated !
