A thoroughly enjoyable holiday-themed novella and excellent second installment in this series.  This book was like drinking premium hot chocolate with a splash of your favorite liqueur.

What I liked:

- The writing, which was warm and descriptive (but not overly wordy) and occasionally poetic.  “Impulsively, the moon took its chance to fight the shadows in the room, and a shimmering white glittered through the open curtains.  But it gave no comfort, solely enhancing the ethereal glow.”
- The main characters, Lily and Asher, were both more mature, with Asher being 43 and Lily in her mid-30s.
- Lily’s list, and Asher’s probabilities.
- The house party setting, with interesting guests and all the games and entertainments.
- The Christmastide customs and traditions.
- Jack’s storytelling.
- Getting to see more of Rosalind and Lucas who first appeared in their own book, Her Noble Captive (Captivating Debutantes #3), which was my favorite of that series.

I would have loved an epilogue, but my hope is that we’ll see more of Lily and Asher in the next book(s).
