Mary Queen of Scots by John Guy

informative slow-paced

4.0

John Guy offers a fresh take upon the narrative of Mary, Queen of Scots - revisiting the original material (and discovering new sources) to challenge the story that has so often been told. Firstly, Guy extends the story, ably demonstrating that Mary's life was more than her imprisonment and death. Secondly, he challenges previous views and offers a view of Mary that sees her as a strong woman, affected by Scottish feudalism and English Imperialism. A very good book.
