The semi-orphan beginning seemed a little tired but there are only so many ways to have kids removed from their parents. I really liked the twists and the way fantasy characters were revealed..killed...came back from being killed, etc. This was fun and I plan to read the next one.
To any Gilmore Girls fans, John Stephens was one of the writers for the show. This book is nothing like the show, as a heads up but if you like YA fantasy, get past the beginning and you'll probably like it.
