Privileged by Carrie Aarons

4.0

Ever since I fell madly in love with Erin Watt's The Royals I haven't been able to pass any opportunity when it comes to books with the same settings. Privileged by Carrie Aaron is similar but only in terms of a new kid from the other side of tracks coming in with the British Royalty, and we are talking actual Royalty, you know Dukes, Duchess, Princesses, etc. But that's where the similarity ends.

Privileged is well into the Young Adult category with characters that you will either completely hate or just love. I enjoyed Nora's character, she is strong and holds her head high no matter what obstacles she faces by being thrust into the limelight of the Royalty.
Asher, on the other hand, took a little more time to warm up to. His intentions are not at all pure and that was evident from the beginning but even with me being pro-Nora from the get go and pro-Asher well into the end of the book, Asher had me rooting for him even when he was being a total ass.

The one thing that I was looking forward to since Asher revealed his plan was the ultimate climax. When we reached that point I felt that there could have been a little more done on the author's part to make the climax more powerful. I'm not saying I didn't like the devastation it left behind because boy did I love that but given what was being revealed it had potential to be made more dramatic and it fell a tad bit flat when Asher revealed the secret to Nora and her family.

There is this quote that goes like: "Patience and Silence have a daughter and her name is Vengeance"
This book was based on the silence of a crime that took place and vengeance when it kept feeding on the silence.

Overall, Privileged is a quick entertaining read where you will definitely look forward to what the characters have planned for each other and the subsequent downfall that is to follow.

4 Stars!
