The Girl from Munich by Tania Blanchard

3.0

This was a fairly easy read, somewhat of a romantic drama against the backdrop of the last years of WWII and afterwards. I liked reading from the P.O.V. of a German, non-Jewish civilian during that time period, and how the American occupation impacted people after the end of the war, but for a story about love and relationships I didn't feel emotionally connected for some reason. I might be getting too cynical these days but this was certainly no The Bronze Horseman (haha)! But seriously, to me it was good, not great. Lotte was a strong, resilient and often (but not always) independent character which I also liked by the way, and there is no doubt that there will be plenty of people who will enjoy, and have already enjoyed, this book.
