Her Soul to Take by Harley Laroux

3.0

Her Soul to Take is a dark paranormal romance with tropes including touch her and die, enemies to lovers, small town, and age gap. The story follows Raelynn, who accidentally summons a demon and finds herself immersed in a world of dark magic where she learns an evil god is set on sacrificing her. With no one in her corner but said demon, she struggles to accept her surroundings, however, when she is finally forced to, the demon makes it clear he is the only one who can help her survive.

I'm conflicted, I really enjoyed the plot and found the magic and setting so fun and enchanting, but, I did not like the FMC. She was literally a disaster, I mean the girl had to have been trying to kill herself, that's the only thing that explains her actions. She is told vehemently by multiple people that she is in danger and yet she goes against everyone. I think the author was trying to make her defiant and badass but I just thought she was plain stupid, I mean if you accidentally summon a demon and now an evil god is out to get you and sending monsters after you, you would think she would be careful, but NO. She goes out at night when she knows the monsters are after her, accepts a drink from someone who is trying to kill her, and defies everything she is told to do by the demon protecting her, I just don't get it...... Beyond my issues with the FMC, I absolutely loved the story and romance, the demon MMC was so charming, he was absolutely obsessed with the FMC and was so good to her when he had no reason to be. I am excited to read the next book as both MCs made an appearance in this one and I liked what I saw!
