I’ve loved the series since book one, but Onley does a truly artful job of developing their writing as well as ALL the characters in the series book by book even as each focuses on a different couple. I adore seeing characters who I came to love and understand evolve throughout every other book, while teasing the upcoming books. Noah is as always a treasure, we see Atticus more confident thanks to his relationship with Jericho, the Thomas/Aiden tension is RIPE. This book especially does a fantastic job of not only exploring Avi/Felix, but also Asa/Avi and the wonderfully balanced relationship between Felix/Zane. We really see how each person brings out an important part of another, so the dynamic between the four if them feels organic and integrated rather than secondary to Avi/Asa as every other relationship has been in their lives before. Felix has a wonderful conflict of vulnerability and viciousness similar to Dayton in Elite Protection, and his character is fleshed out and compelling that is perfectly on brand with the previous characters in the series. The romance and sex are as always very well integrated and tied into both the characters themselves and the dynamic between them as they develop their relationship
