Deadly Class, Volume 4: Die for Me by Rick Remender

4.0

This was definitely one of the more action-packed issues. We see students turn on each other in hopes of acing their "final exam" - an actual rat race. Marcus, being one of the rats, pairs up with others who have been singled out in hopes of surviving through the night. I loved seeing Petra used as more of a main player in this one. Shabnam is in full antagonist mode, taking full advantage of the situation to elevate his own situation. And the final twist? Definitely shocked me the first time I read it.

I think that one of my biggest issues with Deadly Class tends to be the pretentious writing. And while this one certainly had some of that, the insanity of this arc made up for it. I definitely feel like this is where the series hits its stride, as I've already previewed the next installment and remember really enjoying it.
