I enjoyed it. There were some genuinely funny moments and I really liked learning more about the creepers.
There was less philosophical discussion about the Ship of Theseus this time around, which I suppose makes sense given the different context.
I'm troubled by the ending. There's a fair amount of if you can't be a contributing member of society you're a waste of resources and the best thing you can do is die in service of the colony which makes the colony stronger because you did the dangerous thing and also are no longer consuming resources which is not a great message.
I'm also curious if there is a book three if it'll be the same colony or if there will be a time jump where they send out a colony ship of their own. The seed was certainly planted.
