Just a Bit Unhealthy by Alessandra Hazard
I had never been so wrong about my expectations going into a book... I never thought I would witness such train wreck with all this interest and devotion... And I never thought I would actually like this!?????
I just walked in clueless thinking I would get another smutty friends to lovers bi awakening thing, you know something light and mindless, but boy was I wrong....
A bit unhealthy... Say tons unhealthy, a whole locked down quarantine of deadly diseases. We have two of the most pathetic toxic inexcusable heroes who are just so dysfunctional and codependent that it was all soooooo good! Because listen...i realize the level of toxicity and pure madness of this shitshow of a relationship, but I kinda dig it, I just...live for this level of intensity and obsession and possessiveness...
Self care is dnfing this book, yet I couldn't stop until I finished it because the mess is just too good. And I can't believe I don't completely despise and hate such a terrible guy like Gabriel for being the most selfish undeserving asshole on the world, the guy literally ditches his gf and newborn baby to obsess over his guy in some "platonic" twisted way, he doesn't give Jared the chance to live or give him what he wants doesn't let him breathe, stuck in this madstate of denial and demiromantic heterosexuality until the end...
The slow burn isn't just slow...and it's not merely a burn... Not even a forest fire... It's a nuclear plant explosion, with fatal carcinogenic levels of irradiation.. That's what Gabriel and Jared's relationship is....
Yet I didn't hate disaster boi gab or doormat Jay...they were just endeared to me by their obsessive dysfunctional love, it was redeeming enough for me I guess... I'm such a red flag
Anyway I see the series took a whole different direction from the previous book, actually a whole different dimension, and presented this fully fledged story containing some fully complex characters and an actual developed plot that grows legs and arms and a whole set of sharp teeth to bite me in the ass...no complaints..
Still can't believe I was deceived like this
