The Puzzle Master by Danielle Trussoni was an interesting one for me! This is one of those books where you need to make sure you are paying attention or you might miss something, so I recommend that if you listen to the audiobook, you also have a physical copy of the book nearby to reference. I have never heard of acquired savant syndrome before, and it was truly fascinating to have that be an aspect of our MC Mike. I also loved the puzzle piece of the book and getting to see Mike solve various puzzles throughout the book was very satisfying and fun. There are so many genres blended throughout this entire story and even a bit of romance that I was not expecting. I could easily see this being made into a movie, and I also heard that a sequel is already in the works!

Despite the complex plot and the need to focus, I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook which is narrated by Edoardo Ballerini. I definitely had to rewind a few parts, but I was fine listening to this one and Ballerini was the perfect narrator for both Mike and the story as a whole. I have no idea how Trussoni wasn't on my radar before, and it is clear she is adept at mashing genres together and creating something completely cohesive and enthralling. Creepy dolls, demons, and a large cast of characters are just a few of the many things you will find within these pages, and for some reason it had me thinking about the Indiana Jones franchise. The only things that held me back a little were the strange route the story took at one point and that the end felt like it meandered a bit longer when it should have been over. If you are looking for something extremely unique that has action-movie tendencies and will make you smarter, I would recommend The Puzzle Master!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
