A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

A Court of Wings and Ruin: 5/5 stars

"What we think to be our greatest weakness can sometimes be our biggest strength."

Synopsis
A Court of Wings and Ruin is the third book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, and is told, like the first two, from Feyre's perspective.

Starting not long after the end of A Court of Mist and Fury (like, maybe a week or two after?), Feyre is still in the Spring Court, undercover and pretending that she is still in love with Tamlin in order to bring his court down from the inside (since, you know, he made the stupid decision of working with Hybern, and nobody's very happy about that). And yes, she succeeds. It's amazing. Tampon - I mean, Tamlin - got what he deserved.

Of course, the war is just beginning. As Hybern's army grows, the Night Court finds themselves in need of allies - fast-forward to Rhys and Feyre arranging a meeting with the High Lords of Prythian, in which Azriel beats up Eris (it's awesome). I kind of yelled at the book a few times during the meeting (mostly at Tamlin, who was NOT focused on the right thing. I have a whole speech prepared).

Oh, right, Nesta and Elain are kind of depressed and upset about being turned into High Fae against their will. I get why, but to be honest, I'd love to become High Fae.

Writing and Plot
This book wasn't as good as A Court of Mist and Fury but I still liked it better than A Court of Thorns and Roses.

I was fully in invested in the plot this time, especially the war, though some things did feel slightly dragged out - planning the High Lord's meeting, for one. Though when the meeting did occur, it was probably one of my favorite parts of the book (especially when Azriel beat the crap out of Eris, that was AWESOME!).

Some words were repeated, much like in A Court of Mist and Fury (mostly the words "mate" and "male"). Also, I do wish that the characters who died FREAKING STAYED DEAD!!!! THE EMOTIONAL IMPACT IS LOST IF YOU UNALIVE SOMEONE ONLY TO REVIVE THEM TWO PAGES LATER!!!

That being said, I was sobbing for a full chapter even though I knew what would happen (I read spoilers, my bad).

I feel like SJM could have taken longer on this book, maybe do another edit, since some of the scenes felt forced - DEFINITELY Mor telling Feyre she's bisexual.

Characters
My thoughts on these characters are pretty much the same as they were when I finished A Court of Mist and Fury, so I'll make this quick.

Feyre: Yes.
Rhys: Hell yes.
Azriel: YESSSS I'D LOVE HIM.
Cassian: I love him, still find him hilarious.
Nesta: I like her now, I find her interactions with Cassian adorable and funny.
Elain: Still don't remember who this is.
Mor: YESS QUEEN
Amren: I tolerate her. I kinda wished she stayed dead.
Lucien: Meh.
Tamlin: Oh, hell no.
Jurian: I'm kind of on and off about him.
Hybern: Bleeding hells no.
The Cauldron: It's evil.

Conclusion
The plot was semi-fast-paced and enjoyable. Better than the first book but worse than the second. I will be re-reading this at some point.
