Phenomenal, absolutely phenomenal. I went into this book completely blind, trusting that I would love whatever Sabaa wrote, and this did not disappoint.
I’m the same age as Misbah and I felt all the things listening to her story while watching how Salahudin and Noor deal with the fall out from losing Misbah. I wanted to give both Noor and Salahudin hugs, while also wanting to knock their heads together to knock some sense into them. I wanted to step in to protect them when the people around them checked out or acted out in rage.
I have a signed first edition on my shelf, but I also checked out the audio from my library. The narrators were perfect and I loved the accents and secondary languages of Punjabi, because it added depth and breadth to the characters.
Cannot recommend enough.
