Such a Fun Age, by Kiley Reid

2.0

there wasn't a single character in this book that i cared about except for briar, however, i think it might have been the author's intention to make the majority of the characters unlikable. reid did an excellent job of exploring the dynamic between employer and employee, as well as the relationship between emira and briar. this book is definitely a conversation starter and depicts a superbly realistic portrayal of those with a white savior complex.

i liked the plot but for some reason, the writing just felt very choppy to me and there were a lot of unnecessary details that i felt took away from the flow of the story. i didn't particularly enjoy this book but am still looking forward to whatever reid publishes next.
