Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree
Did not finish book. Stopped at 23%.
It's my second time picking up one of these books labeled as "cozy fantasy", and it has been the same kind of disappointment.
Here too there was a beautiful premise, what I'd call "the promise of an atmosphere", that never got delivered. It missed all the little details that are essential to this kind of stories, the descriptions, the introspection. I didn't feel the little town air at all, the place itself didn't feel ALIVE, the characters too felt flat.
I love a story without a plot, but it needs everything else then, it needs to be immersive and rich and this one wasn't, at least for me.
