Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb

It got better… why did it have to get better? But I’ve already ordered the next one, awaiting me at home :)

This book, as was the first, is a slow-building masterpiece. The beauty of an intricately woven, meandering tale is that when given the investment it is due, you get such a rewarding read in return. This is not a short book by any means but even when my days were busy and I got home tired from skiing, I couldn’t not progress it just a little.

The six duchies feels incredibly real. The trials and tribulations of Fitz’s life I can almost feel. I have not felt such a visceral hatred for a book character before (readers will know exactly who I mean). Knowing the final book in this trilogy is over 800 pages doesn’t frighten me like it used to. Instead, all I feel is glad that I get to spend that much more time with the characters I have learned to call friends.
