This is a new genre for me, I've never really read fantasy before. I picked this up from the charity shop as the cover drew me in.
I loved both the story and the author's style of writing. It was very atmospheric, characters and surroundings described vividly. Emily is a character I felt I could relate to, academic, socially awkward. I think there's great character development as she warms to the villagers and begins to think outside of her purely academic mindset.
I have bought the sequel and I'm looking forward to what happens next!
