**Reread 2024**
I have trouble putting into words how much impact this book has on me.
The first two books had Emma suffering abuse from two different villains and this last book is about how she's handling everything that happened and the choices she made. Reading about a self-destructive heroine is not easy but at the same time I like it because it makes the character feel real to me - she's just human with human emotions and flaws.
I loved how Evan loves Emma. His is the steadfast kind of love and I'm glad that he stayed strong despite the challenge of competing with her demons.
I wish that there was another book where their story continued which focuses more on how they build their relationship more, now that they're finally back together. I'd love to see them act more as a couple and handle more normal relationship challenges. But this happy for now ending is okay, too.
Will I reread in the future? Maybe, maybe not. I think it requires a certain amount of mental fortitude to actually subject yourself to being in the mind of an abuse/trauma victim.
Do I recommend? Absolutely, but with caution.
