Man, I really love a good build up in a story, especially in a romance. There's something about that build up that just makes you savor the moment when they FINALLY get together. That's what this book was for me with Katherine's story. We got her unrequited love in the background of the previous Runaway book, so it was a treat to get the full story in this one.

Katherine Gates has loved Cash Greer forever it seems. When she arrived at the Greer ranch and began working as a housekeeper, she was newly 18 and met Cash when he came home from college. It didn't take long for an easy friendship to form between the two and five years ago, they became roommates. She knows he sees her like a sister, just like the rest of the Greers. She simply part of the family and while that's great, she wants him to see her as more. When Cash brings a girl to Friday family dinner, she's hit her breaking point. She can't watch him fall for someone else. It's time for her road trip in the classic Cadillac. She's going to find Aria in Oregon and finally get away from Cash and hopefully make her peace with never having him. Only, a surprise will make it all just a little bit of a challenge.

This might be my favorite in the series just because of the build up. It felt like it paid off. Katherine was so guarded and at times, I found it frustrating, but it also made it all so worth it in the end.
