This book was disappointing. The story was good overall. However, the writing style was annoying - the way that the author writes about what the characters are thinking is odd and was distracting at best. Also, the author dropped bombs in the story that she didn't explain - like a bit of information relevant to the plot of the story that was previously unknown to the reader that was NEVER ADDRESSED - as a reader, this is profoundly frustrating. She also would spoil when something big was about to happen by actually saying something big was happening -  in those words....Again, profoundly frustrating as a reader. In intense plots, readers don't need to be told that they are intense or important - if the writing is good, they will figure it out!
Further, there were too many plot twists that were frankly exhausting by the end of the book. It almost felt like the writer was running out of ideas to stretch out the story, so she added plot twist after plot twist, some of which frankly didn't make a lick of sense in the context of the story that was told at large. I liked the characters, but I don't think I will read the story further after this point. If I do, I will go into it with low expectations.
