Blood of the Saints by Denver Rose

Good book! Very dark & who doesn’t love a TH trope. I love how vulnerable the characters are and how you love the boys from the very beginning. I think I fell in love with the boys more than I did the main girl character.

Although not a damsel in distress, Zimara’s character development lacked a bit and I think it’s because of how she fits into this book. I think we would have seen a lot more character development if she wasn’t an FBI agent under cover. I think if we could see her crazy, raw, and vulnerable from the beginning I would have enjoyed this book more! I am NOT a fan of the police character falling for the gangster character. Not a trope I would ever want to read again. Additionally, the pure torture they put her through in the beginning was giving McKamey Manor vibes. Although she enjoyed it, it wasn’t fun to read them literally torturing her with the intent to kill her (again relating to her being an under cover FBI agent). I cannot pinpoint when she started falling for them. Although I know she was sexually attracted to them, even after nearly 700 pages I cannot tell you when she began loving them. I wish her character allowed her to be more vulnerable.

We learned so much about the boys and with every page we loved them. We peeled back each layer of the boys and really loved them from within. I wish I could love Zimara the same. There was a scene where she nearly drowned and I wish we saw more scenes like that from Zimara. She was vulnerable, real, and pained.

This book feels like an underdeveloped Den of Vipers. It was a good read though & definitely held its own against some of my favorite adult romances but just a little tweaks would have made this book one of my must reads!
