The Secret Fiancée by Catharina Maura

3.0

There are some mixed feelings about this one.

I really liked the first 70%. I really enjoyed reading Raya and Lex’s story up until that point. There were some trust issues that caused a bit of trouble here and there but it wasn’t something that ruined the book for me.

Raya was such a sweetheart and so incredibly smart; reading her side of the story and how she navigated this big change in her life while also trying to graduate from univeristy in such a complex degree was so inspiring!

And Lex, he wasn’t that in the beginning. He was sweet, smart, so overly jealous over nothing (the secondhan embarrassment here was off the charts because he acted before he thought and ugh, I hated it) and overprotective.

But I will never forgive him for what he did to Raya. I get that he was worried for his sister, I get his last trauma, I get the anxiety and the panic but he did something unforgivable to me. I was glad that Xavier was there and voiced my thoughts because wow, I never would have expected that from Lex.

It was such a big turn off that I didn’t even want them to be gathering in the end. It practically ruined the whole book for me. The only reason this gets three stars is for the rest of the book because it wasn’t that bad. The climax and the ending were not it.
