✨ Possibly my favorite book of 2022 ✨

As a lover of both The Name Of The Wind and the Nevernight trilogy, and itching to fill a vampire fix this was just the book for me. I can see myself returning to this over and over again, the grim dark themes and characters as well as the religious order created was so enjoyable to unpack. Despite the large page count as soon as I finished I wanted more.

Though someone more observant than me may have seen some of the twists coming I was happily caught off guard at every turn! The narrative style while not for everyone worked for me perfectly, unpacking the story in an action packed way, paring lulls of world building with action as everything unfolded.

My only negative note would be the ending fell a little flat, some of the stakes earlier on in the book felt more dire, the final action sequences shorter with far less consequences than earlier battles.

I can’t wait for the next book !
