Emily brightwell's  Mrs Jeffries series is peppered with some pleasantly quirky characters.   The plot in this one involving seaces and medium is not an unusual device, but is spared being the same old same old because the staff diverts the investigation in different directions.  Mrs Jeffries is a bit too knowledgeable about world affairs, and the inspector not worldly enough, given their respective stations, but it is an enjoyable series.
