The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward

4.5 Stars.

I joined a buddy read for this one and each day we were like "wtf is going on!" I've heard lots of good things and was eager to read it. I started it and within a few chapters I was so confused. A talking cat? Really? Hmmm. The different chapters perspectives were good, but on my god I couldn't keep up. By the middle I had sort of worked out the possible twist and I was right. Without giving too much away I found a certain bit of it very interesting as I'm using the same subject in the current book I'm writing. So I shall definitely be looking into the references the author listed at the back.

It was a fascinating plot and idea and even though I was beyond confused and read half the book with a bewildered frown on my face I have to say that it was amazingly clever and interesting. I could barely put it down. I had to know what the f**k was going on! I enjoyed the back and forth and the snippets of information that were drip fed slowly so you could piece together the plot. A great psychological thriller with very creepy vibes!

The only issue I had...the confusion! Seriously. Was it just me? It didn't stop me reading it, but I did feel a bit stupid while reading...like...am I missing something? I didn't find the ending as shocking as it probably should have been because I guessed it half way through, but I was still confused. It's definitely one of those books I shall have to read again to understand it! The only reason it isn't a 5 star is cos of the confusion
