I’m rereading all the books I own, and this one used to be an absolute favorite of mine. I’m still trying to decide if it’s camp or just cheesy. Mrs. Smith is excellent at dialogue which I’m pretty sure used to be all I cared about.
Spoiler It was interesting to read it the same year my father who I also had a strained relationship with died.
I did have fun with it, but in a similar way one has fun watching a hallmark movie. It’s really incredibly straight, you guys. Like VERY straight. But I had fun
Spoiler despite my slight annoyance at how quickly Hadley forgives her father

and I don’t regret giving it a reread.
