Addy Learns a Lesson: A School Story by Connie Rose Porter

4.0

I read this more than any other Addy book, because I had a hand-me-down copy that was a duplicate for a friend. Conveniently, this was my favorite in the series, and it still is, because it is a well-paced, nuanced story in which the author doesn't waste a single detail. I enjoyed reading this as an adult, and appreciate the realistic portrayal of how challenging life was for former slaves in the North, even after they had won their freedom.
