I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai

I couldn’t turn away once I started reading this book. It was a complete joy to read. Even when I found myself stressed or crying along with the characters, I found the Yousafzai’s strength, determination, faith, and honesty grounding and inspiring. Besides telling the personal story of an incredibly ambitious, brave, and extraordinary girl, this book gave an enlightening and thoughtful history of Swat and Pakistan. I also treasured the loving and empowering relationship between Malala and her father. I just loved it and I’m grateful it exists.
