Such a great, rocky and sad read for me. Every single chapter something happen that would make me cry or get close to it. I found myself wanting to be a lot like the protagonist when it comes to empathy and kindness.
All throughout I felt how essential and sensitive this story was, and it felt more like learning than reading, if that makes sense. I think this is a very important book for anyone interested in knowing about queer history, to see how far we've come and issues we've yet to see resolved, both in the community and in anyone's self. I dock some points for some mystification of American Native people that didn't sit quite right with me.
