Hannah and Fox were first introduced in It Happened One Summer. While they are side characters in the first book, what we learn about them is valuable to their own story in this book, so I don’t recommend reading Hook, Line, and Sinker as a standalone. This is a friends to lovers romance with forced proximity, he falls first, and forbidden love tropes.⠀

I love that this book began with text conversations Hannah and Fox had over the course of several months after they first met. I was really excited for them to see each other in person again after I got all giggly and giddy from reading their funny and cute chats. However, these text convos were a big part of their relationship development. Once they met up again they pretty much jumped straight into it. We are told that they texted everyday for six months, but we were obviously not privy to all of that build up.⠀

Hannah was my favorite character in book one and I loved her so much once again in this book. I loved her personality, her independence, how she persevered through her insecurities, her humor, and that she called Fox on his shit. I really liked Fox and his character growth. I thought he was too hung up on his own insecurities regarding his reputation for a bit too long, but it was mostly understandable. Together I loved their banter and I think they complemented each other well. ⠀

Similar to the first book, I thought the nautical references and puns were over the top and super corny. I loved the epilogue giving us a glimpse of them 10 years from now. Overall, I loved this book much more than the first and it was a big step up for me!
