X-Men: Days of Future Past by Chris Claremont
4.0
Days of Future Past is good! After reading Dark Phoenix, I thought that I just wouldn't enjoy X-Men Comics. But this one was much more refreshing! It was entertaining and fun and exciting. It's good!
There's more than just Days of Future Past in this collection. The other stories, as I remember them: the funeral of Jean Gray, the X-Men visit Hell, Wendigo, and a monster on Christmas. The funeral of Jean Gray isn't as emotional as I would have expected, and it's not that exciting, but it does give the history of the X-Men, which is interesting. The X-Men visiting Hell is a weird story. Basically, a monster sucks Nightcrawler, the other X-Men, and Doctor Strange into what appears to be Hell. They battle to get out. But Hell? Still, it ends up being a tense story. I thought that I wouldn't like Wendigo, but it was exciting! There's some monster that's terrorizing Canada, and Wolverine and Nightcrawler go to help out Alpha Flight (a Canadian superhero team) with it. Finally, a monster on Christmas was dramatic and a bit scary. Kitty is left alone at the mansion, when some creepy monster shows up. Since everyone's gone, Kitty's has to take it down on her own.
Then, there's Days of Future Past. In the future, the Sentinels have taken over and may cause Armageddon. The only hope is to send Kitty's consciousness back in time to change a moment in history where the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, led by Mystique, kills Professor X, Moira McTaggert, and Senator Kelly, eventually leading to the creation of the Sentinels, etc. This was my favorite story - it's not as good as the movie (I'm sorry if that's blasphemy), but it's still a fun and engaging story.
