Huntingtower by John Buchan

Surprisingly charming read.
Some favorite sentences/wording:

"Every bit of the world beyond his front door had its charms to the seeing eye."

Much further on (I feel I should state that as it's so incongruent to above favorite):
"Shuttered, silent, abandoned, it stood like a harsh memento mori of human hopes."

"He hated to admit that life could be crooked, but the optimist in him was now fairly dashed."

And, something I've found myself quoting at times to the delightful confusion of others:
"Ye'll no fickle Thomas Yownie."
