This book in the series was not my favorite. I found the setting and history of the region not as interesting as previous books. The chapter quotes at the beginning are from an English man of the cloth and Holmes' godfather, Reverend Sabine Baring-Gould. Perhaps if I had read The Hound of the Baskervilles first, I would have enjoyed it more.
