The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane by Julia Nobel
5.0
I loved this book. I immersion read it (reading along to the audiobook) and was gripped from beginning to end. It's an atmospheric dark academia middle grade novel perfect for autumn.
I liked and cared about all three of the central characters, and the mystery is compelling and at times tense and thrilling. It did frustrate me a little that there's a scene where the villain inexplicably decides to explain things to the main character, always an unconvincing trope, but it was a couple of pages out of an otherwise excellent novel.
I'm very much looking forward to reading the sequel.
