The Birds They Sang: Birds and People in Life and Art by Bill Johnston, Stanisław Łubieński

4.0

Both a lovely yet upsetting book, at times the author’s sojourns are gentle & amusing then he takes you to the slaughter of both birds & humans. It is not particularly descriptive yet manages to transport you to the various bird admiring locations along with the author. His descriptions of the birds themselves probably aren’t useful to anyone unfamiliar with them, though there are a handful of simple but beautiful drawn images, yet they come to life on the pages. It is evidently an impeccably translated text.
