If you're a fan of Horror, especially horror that makes you think, you should read this.
If Skynet ever concerned you, especially with how AI is progressing, you should read this.
If Wolf Ram and Hart seemed like a perfect embodiment of evil, especially if you know anything about profit margins in corporations, you should read this.
You need to know nothing going into this book except that it's queer and it's in Hollywood.
This is a queer book about the trauma others inflict on us, homophobia in our regular media, the dangers of consumerism, the corruption of capitalism, the power we give our creations and how us allowing technology into every aspect of our life (when we let it run rampant) can change the balance of power. There is body horror, cosmic horror, technological horror, and a strong aspect of queer horror. It also tackles rainbow-washing, gay-baiting, stereotypes being harmful, how representation can be tragically done and the fact that Queer-Tragedy isn't the only kind of Queer story.
Bury Your Gays is part of the "Tingle-verse" so there is a mention of the events at Camp Damascus, though no details are given to us, so you don't have to read them in order.
Excellently narrated and (as a bonus) has full cast narration with background sounds for specific scenes. This helps illustrate the differences between the types of scenes, which is important later.
I honestly hope they make this into a movie.
