My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell
5.0
Somewhere in the middle of the story, I wanted to drop it because I couldn’t stomach the whole thing, but I ended up finishing the book in one sitting bcs at the same time, it was hard to put it down. I wanted to know what happened in the end.
Abuse comes in many forms, and every survivor deals with it differently. The book is absolutely not a walk in the park, it is very hard to take in — trust me, it is bitter from the first page to the last. But this is the reality of many cases that we, as a society, hardly talk about.
P.S while this novel could be an important read, do read it when you are in the right head space. Take breaks if you have to, stop the book automatically if you want to.
