The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything: A Spirituality for Real Life by James Martin

4.0

This book is a solid introduction to Ignatian spirituality, combining practical spiritual exercises with humanizing stories about Martin, St. Ignatius and other Jesuits. Martin makes spirituality accessible, explaining how they provide value to him as a Jesuit priest but also how they could provide value to lay people and non-Christians. I also appreciated how Martin humanizes himself and others throughout this book, even describing St. Ignatius as a “former hothead”. I expect to reference back to this book from time to time, to remind myself of valuable exercises, such as the “Three Times” for discernment.
