The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary

lighthearted fast-paced

1.0

Another fun in concept, poor in execution sort of book for me. This writing style wasn't my favorite, and listening to the audio book only made it worse.

Leon's chapters were notably less enjoyable because of his pronoun dropped speech.

I think my biggest issue was that I found a lot of the characters to be cringe. I also don't enjoy tv/music references in my books, and this has a lot of that.

Also, I found the third act to be really weird. The whole novel, Tiffy's friends are identifying Justin as an emotional abuser - but then Gertie and Leon immediately take the side of said abuser without question? They know he's a Grade A manipulator and gaslighter. They didn't even consider looking at Tiffy or her reaction to the spectacle. It just seemed out of character from my perspective.

I knew pretty quickly I wasn't likely to enjoy this book, buuuuut I liked the flatshare concept and had a long enough drive that I finished it.
