This was a very enjoyable, clean, all age friendly, "old school" fantasy with intricate world building. When I think about a YA fantasy adventure, this is what I mean. It was exhilarating, enchanting and easy to lose yourself in.
It honestly reminded me of when I read Rumo, HP, LOTR & Magician for the first time. The level of detail and the language that creates whimsy, letting you fall into another world and lose reality.

Without spoiling anythingggggg.
Christine's writing is so immersive, it flowed exactly as I would expect as I embarked on this quest with the awesome FMC, Ashlai. Her attitude, compassion, development and overall awesome-ness really shined through. The found family aspect was also so heart warming and hopeful. The varying display of characters and ages was well thought out and acute.

The magic system Christine created is incredible. It is so well put together and detailed, no inconsistencies. The way it eluded into book 2 set some excitement. This book was a wonderful journey, from the expression of landscapes, the way a characters emotion is portrayed, the language, everything was just a great mix.
It was honestly so much fun, I would highly recommend it if you enjoy YA fantasy! For anyone aged 10+
